Chicago Commons Website

As part of a Taproot Foundation team, we were tasked with re-vamping the website for Chicago Commons, a community organization based in the southern and western neighborhoods of Chicago. The focus was on end users as members of the community (making potential donors the secondary audience) and the site needed to be designed to be managed with Adobe Dreamweaver templates, a content system that the organization had and was familiar with. We focused on making information clear and easy to navigate, making all navigation elements bilingual, with the goal of translating the site completely at a later date. In the design of the pages, members of the community were given the spotlight, giving the “ownership” of the organization to the community. Google maps and calendars were integrated to give the organization an easy way to communicate upcoming events and locations.
